The 15 and 16-year-olds, whose names were not released because of their ages, were involved in the fight around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, Chicopee police said.
Neither of the boys are students at the school, officers added.
The fight began as the school was letting out for the day. As the student resource officer went to break it up, one of the boys ran toward Wheatland Avenue.
Students yelled to the officer that one of the fighters had a gun.
Police chased the boy down and arrested him. Police arrested the second teen after 10 p.m. and found the gun, Chicopee police said.
The 16-year-old is charged with:
- Disorderly conduct
- Resisting arrest
- Carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Assault and battery
- Assault with a dangerous weapon
The 15-year-old is charged with:
- Possession of a firearm without an FID card
- Possession of ammunition without an FID card
- Improper storage of a firearm
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Assault with a dangerous weapon
- Assault and battery
